The First National Bank of Bar Harbor, Maine was founded in 1888 and
was given Federal Bank Charter  No. 3941 by the US government in
order to issue paper money.

The note shown on our page is from the Series of 1902 and is called a "Red Seal" for obvious reasons. The date of 1908 shown on the note refers to the 20 year rechartering of the bank's 3941, and the number "1" under the portrait on the note indicates this is the very first note issued in this series.

The First National Bank of Bar Harbor is still in business today, 119 years after it's original chartering.

Our Mission
We have always tried to stock our store with the collector in mind.  Whether you are trying to complete a series of Mercury Dimes or Franklin Halves or Indian Head Pennies, etc., we will have most if not all the dates in the series in many different grades.  Also, we always have a selection of higher grade coins for collectors and investors.  While we specialize in Maine paper money, we have a large selection of type notes, confederate and small size notes.

We have 30 years of experience buying and selling coins and paper money.  Complete appraisal services.  No collection is too big or too small.
